Photo365 – Day 23 – Highland Cow

Probably my favourite photo from my Photo365 series so far. Almost like a present following the heavy week I’ve had. It’s a Highland cow taken on Baslow Edge in Derbyshire I was out testing the new Tamron 18-270mm lens on a Nikon D90. I’d gone to photograph a sunset and although the sun broke through […]

Photo365 – Day 22 – Waterfall on the River Wye

This was taken today on a trip out to Bakewell with the new Tamron 18-270mm AF lens. It’s a close up shot at the 85mm setting of a waterfall on the river Wye. I like the fact that it’s three strips of graduated tone, from near black to near white with a mid tone grey […]

Photo365 – Day 21 – Frosty Leaf

Today has been manic…just realised I hadn’t uploaded my daily pic. This was taken minutes after I got up and minutes before breakfast…what followed was a 15 hour stretch at the computer sorting out issues with the new gallery update. Nothing special today but a snap!

Photo365 -Day 20 Egg & Forks

I’ve seen this shot a few times and decided to have a go myself. Usually the forks are the other way up so I have added my twist to it. I found two forks with interesting handles too. The shot was lit from above and behind using an Elinchrom D-Lite with softbox.

Photo365 – Day 19 – A Touch of Frost

It was cold this morning so I took advantage of the weather and photographed the frost on my car. I walked around taking close ups with my 100mm macro lens. A car can provide interesting abstracts when seen close, particularly if it’s been raining or icy. This one is of a join in the body […]

Photo365 – Day 18 – Light & Shade

As I walked into the home office this morning I was greeted with a low level sun shining through the blinds. Its the first really sunny morning this year and the feeling was good. After I’d done looking at the previous night’s photos in the gallery and my cruise around the site I decided to […]

Photo365 – Day 17 – Home made light modifier

Today is the result of my first attempts with a new light modifier I made earlier in the evening for a portable hot shoe flash. It’s a ringlight adaptor which cost about £1 to make and converts a normal flash to give a ringlight effect in the eyes. I’ll write a small piece about how […]

Photo365 – Day 16 – Padley Gorge

The weather was rubbish today – raining and grey, but I needed to get out of the house so took a stroll around Padley Gorge. Kids enjoyed scrambling around. I took a few photos. This one was from the path looking up into the woodland. Shot with wide angle to get the towering trees leaning […]

Photo365 – Day 15 – Grand Opening Sale

Today I went to the shops… A balloon on a ceiling in Victoria Centre Nottingham.

Photo365 – Day 14 – New Desk

After about 10 years of use I decided it was time to buy a new computer desk. The one I’d been using was an old second hand one of high quality, black inset leather, five draws, real wood type thing. At the weekend I spotted a walnut model with a sliding keyboard draw and a […]
