Gig photography
The first concert I attended with a camera was Hawkwind's Quark Strangeness and Charm tour, Sheffield City Hall. I used an old Olympus OM-1 film camera with Vivitar 70-150mm zoom loaded with slide film, smuggled in under my coat. The photos from the balcony were average! A few years later I was near the front in the stalls and managed to get some great pics of Peter Gabriel, which I sold in Revolution Records.
I took many gig photos over the years and was lucky enough to be around in Sheffield at the height of the Electronic/Indie period 79-82, Blitz club etc. I was one of the few taking photos at gigs so have some decent unique material from that period.
Digital made things much easier and ive had a camera with me at many over the years until the iphone became practical Sadly the iPhone pics are average but an acceptable record of the gig.
