Photo365 – Day 102 – Letter A

I decided today that a series of shots showing the letters of the alphabet would be a good theme and help me through some days where I’m lacking inspiration. On such days I will go out and find the next letter of the alphabet. We start with A – a free standing advertising board outside […]

Photo365 – Day 101 – camera obscura

The good thing about my photo365 project is I will post stuff that I wouldn’t normally post. I tend to post technically good pictures to be viewed by the gallery viewers, but with a blog I’ve pushed in more obscure directions. So you will get to view an alternative side to my photography. It’s this […]

Photo365 – Day 100 – snail’s pace

Today is my 100th photo365. It was taken on the patio this morning. At a certain height I could see the glistening trail of a snail, which disappeared when viewed from different directions or angles. I thought I’d shoot with the macro lens and at a wide aperture so that just a small cross section […]

Photo365 – Day 99 – one afternoon in a hot air balloon

Sometimes you may not be prepared. I’d gone on Stanage Edge today and took the Olympus EP2 with 17mm lens (about 35mm in 35mm format) I intended to do a few landscapes. I spotted a hot air balloon and wished I’d taken a long lens. Here’s my shot. The balloon is a dot in the […]

Photo365 – Day 98 – tulip’s decline

Last week was Mothering Sunday, almost one week later the flowers are wilting. Time for a photo! It’s taken against an aluminium camera case backdrop and window lit.

Photo365 – Day 97 – blade of grass

This is what you get if you lay down on the floor and poke a macro lens (set to a wide aperture) through the grass. I moved around to find the most pleasing view. A single blade of grass with its companions totally out of focus thanks to the shallow depth of field. It’s a […]

Photo365 – Day 96 – The afternoon sky

I pointed the iphone straight up early this evening to record the tree branches filling the blue void. To the bottom left is a vapour trail. Photographers often don’t like them in the shot.  I think they add an extra element and purposely include them in many of my photographs.

Photo365 – Day 95 – Gateford Carpets

It’s amazing when you open your eyes how fascinating the architecture looks on even the most mundane shop windows. Here in Worksop I have walked or driven past this carpet shop on Gateford Road hundreds of times, but never spotted the interesting detail on the upper areas, until today. I took the photo using the […]

Photo365 – Day 94 – Swinging Safari

I’ve been a music fan since I walked into Wilson & Pecks ( a music shop in Sheffield (long since closed) with a selection of records) with my mum when I was about 10. I heard a happy song playing over the speaker system and asked my mum what it was. She asked at the […]

Photo365 – Day 93 – Pop

I’ve been experi-menting with fast flash tonight trying to record the bursting of a balloon and I’m fairly happy with this shot. I used a new portable studio flash, test will be going up on ePHOTozine in a few days, and a Sony Alpha A55 set to high speed shooting mode, although in reality i […]
