1st park run in two years. This time running with my son. He beat me! I got a respectable, but not best, time of 24:02. My best time stands at 23:00.

Today I achieved a new personal best time of 23:03 on the Hillsborough 5k Parkrun. I came 50th (45th male) out of a field of 219 runners and 1st in my age category with an age-graded score of 66.09%. And I even managed a smile!

Having worn hiking shoes for three parkruns and all my previous couch to 5k training i finally splashed out on a pair or proper running shoes. I got a bargain from TK Maxx – a pair of Brooks Ravena. I had no idea if they were any good but a friend from the photo industry and runner, Angela Nicholson, says she has a pair…so I’m pleased.

On this morning Parkrun my leg muscle ached as I walked down to Hillsborough park. I should have known…it was a sign! I got round lap one in less than 8 mins but then pain started in my right leg. I didn’t stop and by the third lap I was in agony. I couldn’t walk until the following Tuesday.
Played first game of badminton in years with Debra and Nicola at Wisewood sports centre
Having finished the Couch to 5K app I entered my first ever run (since school cross country) this morning at the Hillsborough Parkrun. I finished in 106th place, was the 86th male out of a field of 223 runners and came 8th in my age category, with an age-graded score of 56.59% (whatever that means!). Will beat this next week!
Went to football match at Hillsborough – Sheffield Wednesday vs Walsall – with Will and and Joe
I went to my first game in years… Sheffield Wednesday vs Nottingham Forest. An average game of, as they say, two halves…both with little action but a fair bit of drama from the Notts side who seemed to foul a lot and wasted about seven minutes of injury time.
The game started with a goal in 3 minutes to the away team, but Wednesday pulled back to make it one all in 39th minute. Those moments were about as interesting as it got.
