Some new music to enjoy

I’ve started work on finalising a new album – title to be confirmed and here are excerpts from two tracks. The first provides experimentation unbalanced keys / notes to form random unsynchronised music. The second is a tranquil piece full of harmony

Another ambition achieved

It’s always been an ambition of mine to have a mass produced CD of material I’ve recorded. Over the years (many years ago actually) I  created single copies of music on cassette. In one band I was in we even went as far as duplicating the cassette several times and creating an album which we placed for sale in Sheffield’s Record Collector  (one copy was bought) A review appeared in a local rag, so thanks for buying it.

Well at last, some 20 years later,  I’ve finally got around to creating that CD…a limited run of 100 copies with a new band – The Sound of Flak. We’re a two piece electronic outfit comprising David Burleson,  previously OxiMoron, and yours truly. The album’s called The Unbalanced and is now available.

The creation was an exciting path. And also a new experience, working out formats for files, and designing the digipack cover / cd label.

Flak is born

flak
After what appears to be ages David Burleson and I have created our first CD’s worth of material under the name Flak. We’ve been pulling it together over a one year period in Friday night sessions. And now have it mixed down and ready to roll.

We will be launching the CD on a variety of media soon. Watch this space!

Some musical interlude

I’ve been so busy at work preparing for the Christmas break that I haven’t had time to keep up my daily dose of blog.

An old interest has return big time! Electronic music. I was walking past my local Cash Converter type shop and spotted a Korg ER-1 gadget – £20, no power adaptor. Couldn’t turn that one down. I bought an adaptor, plugged in the gadget and found it delivers some amazing sounds. Now I’m back in must get a CD created mode. Over the next week I intend to produce some music in the same style as Plaid, FSOL etc. Who knows I may even end up with a bit of space on My Space (I’ve currently resisted the temptation!)

Exotic Percussion – Mein Glas Fabrik review

Sheffield Fanzine, Tigers On The Moor (cover date May 1981) reviewed our cassette

The review:

Subtitled “Exotic Percussion”, this is a complete mystery to me except I have a sneaky suspicion that Mark Holmes of the Fatales might just know a bit about it…a c60 album with no information attached, beautifully engineered and compiled, of apparently pointless synth which twists and winds its way through an hour of quite often gloomy but ultimately compulsive listening. There are no sides 1 and 2; one

side has a coloured label and the other is grey and t

hat’s probably the best identification. An ideal tape for late listening, especially the deeper grey side, impossible to review because there’s nothing to say about it! Definitely not just another home made tape! Very good sound quality, and good value for dole at £11.50. As the sleeve note says “Incidental Music”.

We were happy with that conclusion. It was limited to ten copies. We sold 1!

Andromeda appear in Music Information Booklet

Our band was interviewed for Music Information Booklet – a fanzine from Wales. This was the last issue No 5 and inc Smiths gig review, Orange Juice, Pink Industry and us,  Andromeda.
Only 50 copies were made and I had number 14.

It was published sometime in the early 80s
