Photo365 – Day 224 – levitation

I saw some great levitation photos this morning which triggered me to have a quick initial go to see how I thought they were done. I’m not happy with the result and will have to look at some techniques on the subject as it’s a totally new avenue for me.

I’ve shared the shot anyway as a record of where I started out.

Photo365 – Day 223 – keep out

The Bracebridge Pumphouse from behind the fence, taken with the Olympus Pen EP2 and a new Toy Lens I’m testing.
The lens is a c mount security lens with a f/1.4 aperture so you get really shallow depth of field. It vignettes, it has masses of chromatic aberrations and it’s not even multi coated so flares like mad when pointing towards the sun…and that’s what I’m liking – old school photography in the digital age.

Photo365 – Day 220 – abstract

I was experimenting with the Olympus EP2 by placing a Pentax macro lens in front. Not connected just butted up to the body. It gave a fairly decent shot with little loss in contrast. I then turned the lens round so the filter thread was flush to the lens mount and by accident picked up the light from a reflection in some chrome. It created a circle due to the lens’ round aperture blades, so I adjusted the distance of the lens from the camera so the circle became bigger. I Also noticed lines from the leg of my computer monitor so I moved that to the right and ended up with this abstract. I do like shapes created by shadows and out of focus elements.

They may not be award winning photos in ePHOTOzine world but they are interesting for me to build upon.

Photo365 – Day 219 – memorial

I walked over Bleaklow today to Higher Shelf Stones near Glossop to view the crash site of a Boeing RB-29A 44-61999 of the 16th Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron, 91st Reconnaissance Group, 311th Air Division, Strategic Air Command, USAF that Crashed on 3rd November 1948.

This is one of the memorial crosses left on the site. It’s a three frame HDR exposure taken using the Pentax K-5 and 12-24mm lens.

Photo365 – Day 218 – tattoo

Well not really, but the power of the sun threw shadows from a pint glass on to a table so I placed my hand in the shot and let the shadow fall across my knuckles in a sort of love/hate way.

Photo365 – Day 217 – poppy heads

I have a feeling this will be the second to last shot from my poppy series. This is of ageing poppy heads shot from a low angle using the hipstamtic iphone app.

Photo365 – Day 216 – Blue melo

Blue Melo is a demo table for the Reactable music app for the ipad. The real Reactable is used by artists such as Bjork on recent live gigs.
This was taken with the iPhone and Hipstamatic app.
