The letter F taken with an iphone and hipstamatic
It’s part of a theme of alphabet letters I’m currently shooting for my photo365 project.

Photo365 – Day 108 – Letter E

My photo365 projects returns to the Alphabet and I’m on E.  So here’s the spine of my note book taken with a Pentax K10D and 100mm macro lens.

Photo365 – Day 107 – carbooters

I popped over to Marsh Lane carboot sale this morning and took the iphone to record some of the visitors.

I parked myself near the exit and took candids as the punters walked past or left. I held the camera phone at waist height and pressed the shutter as people walked into view.

It’s a bit awkward with the hipstamatic app because the shutter is on the screen and not easy to press from a weird angle while you’re looking like your not taking pictures.

It was a bit hit and miss, especially the composition, but I ended up with a good selection of shots.

This is not my favourite but is one of the better ones to illustrate carboot sales. The bloke was looking back at a meat seller who was mid flow in his sales patter.

Photo365 – Day 105 – Bluebells

I’m interrupting my Alphabet series tonight to post a shot from today while testing a new Velbon tripod.
It’s taken from a low viewpoint of bluebells in a wood near Clumber Park.
I used the Pentax K10D and 100mm macro lens.

Photo365 – Day 104 – Letter C

I’ve decided to shoot the alphabet for my next 26 days of my 365 day project. Now I have a purpose! So today I’m on C and I didn’t have to look far to see the letter C. No further than my feet in fact and some flip flops I use to make quick visits into the garden.

Placed on a black background to avoid any distractions and shot on the Pentax K10D

Photo365 – Day 103 – Letter B

The letter B…a Pentax wide-angle lens hood, cross processed to make it slightly more interesting. A bit of a cop out as I didn’t spot anything on my daily walk with a B shape, and time was running out this evening. The lens was on my desk and I suddenly spotted its potential.

Photo365 – Day 102 – Letter A

I decided today that a series of shots showing the letters of the alphabet would be a good theme and help me through some days where I’m lacking inspiration. On such days I will go out and find the next letter of the alphabet.

We start with A – a free standing advertising board outside the opticians in the town centre.
I took this on a new camera App that I downloaded for the iPhone. It’s called the Little Orange Box – one of five styles in the Retro Camera Plus app. It’s free to download.

Photo365 – Day 101 – camera obscura

The good thing about my photo365 project is I will post stuff that I wouldn’t normally post. I tend to post technically good pictures to be viewed by the gallery viewers, but with a blog I’ve pushed in more obscure directions. So you will get to view an alternative side to my photography. It’s this type I did in the early days, working with shadows and light, shapes and patterns.

This is a faint reflection of my in the LCD computer monitor. I noticed that one of the iphone apps enhanced the shadow and gave an almost posterised edge. I experimented with position, angle and framing and ended up with this version, straight out of the camera, using a retro camera app.

I like the noise that’s been added and the exaggerated fringing. My shape is on the right. It reminds me of an album cover of one of the industrial type bands I listened to in the early 80s. Not everyone’s cup of tea I imagine!

Photo365 – Day 100 – snail’s pace

Today is my 100th photo365. It was taken on the patio this morning. At a certain height I could see the glistening trail of a snail, which disappeared when viewed from different directions or angles. I thought I’d shoot with the macro lens and at a wide aperture so that just a small cross section is sharp, letting the trail come in and out of focus.
