Photo365 – Day 249 – pineapple

I have a new theme to introduce to my photo365 blog – fruit and veg. I will from time to time use my daily post for a different way of shooting fruit and veg. This one is lit just with my Gorillatorch

I placed the Pentax K-5 on a tripod set the shutter to 30 seconds at f/4 and tripped it. I then painted the pineapple with light placing emphasis on the sides to give a rim light type effect, trying not to spill onto the background (black velvet)

I quite like the lush feel it’s given this tropical fruit.

Photo365 – Day 248 – washing machine

I’ve finally caught up again and back on track with my photo365 after a week on holiday in Cornwall.
Today’s shot is the inside of my washing machine converted to black & white in Lightroom.
It was taken on the Pentax K5 with 12-24mm zoom.

Photo365 – Day 247 – toy lens

The garden is full of berries at the moment, and this captures one of the species. It’s another shot with the toy lens that I reviewed a few weeks ago. I played around pointing into the sun to introduce flare, but settled back on this shot which has incredible spiralling blurred out of focus bits to make the image almost hypnotic. It’s a real fun lens to use for unusual effects.

Photo365 – Day 246 – Avebury Stone Circle

This was taken in Avebury (my favourite village) on the way home from Cornwall on the last day of the holiday.
It’s a shot of one of the stones from the huge Stone Circle taken with the Olympus Ep-2 fitted with Cokin A-series polarising filter and grey grad.

Photo365 – Day 245 – boy and seal

An inquisitive seal and an equally inquisitive boy stare each other out in the harbour at St Ives.
Taken using the Olympus EP-2 and 14-42mm lens on 2 September 2011.

Photo365 – Day 244 – scarecrows

Scarecrows in the car park at Mawgan Porth. I’d spent the day on the beach without a camera so this was a snap shot on the iphone for the photo365 project.

Photo365 – Day 243 – gravestones Tintagel

We drove over to Tintagel to see the Castle and parked in the car park a short walk away from the St Materianas church. I was fascinated by the gravestones which had a lovely coating of fine light green lichen.

I took this shot with the Olympus EP-2 and added a gradient to the bland sky in Lightroom

Photo365 – Day 242 – shells on rocks

The tide was out at Porth (Nr Newquay) when I walked over from Mawgan Porth. I wandered around looking for textures and spotted this interesting composition with a few shells

Taken with the handheld Olympus EP-2 and 14-42mm lens.

Photo365 – Day 241 Cornish wall

This was taken on a coastal walk to Bedruthan Steps (29 August 2011). I went over to photograph the sunset but hadn’t done my research and the tide was fully in so I couldn’t get on to the beach. It’s at a spot on the way back to Mawgan Porth. I won’t take full credit for this one, my lad influenced the shot. I’d taken some photos of the wall and separate ones of the sunset and he’d been watching and said why don’t you take a shot from an angle and include the sunset. I could have kicked myself for missing an obvious opportunity.

It was taken with the Olympus Pen EP-2 and is a 5 frame HDR merged in Photomatix.
