Photo365 – Day 220 – abstract

I was experimenting with the Olympus EP2 by placing a Pentax macro lens in front. Not connected just butted up to the body. It gave a fairly decent shot with little loss in contrast. I then turned the lens round so the filter thread was flush to the lens mount and by accident picked up the light from a reflection in some chrome. It created a circle due to the lens’ round aperture blades, so I adjusted the distance of the lens from the camera so the circle became bigger. I Also noticed lines from the leg of my computer monitor so I moved that to the right and ended up with this abstract. I do like shapes created by shadows and out of focus elements.

They may not be award winning photos in ePHOTOzine world but they are interesting for me to build upon.

Photo365 – Day 219 – memorial

I walked over Bleaklow today to Higher Shelf Stones near Glossop to view the crash site of a Boeing RB-29A 44-61999 of the 16th Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron, 91st Reconnaissance Group, 311th Air Division, Strategic Air Command, USAF that Crashed on 3rd November 1948.

This is one of the memorial crosses left on the site. It’s a three frame HDR exposure taken using the Pentax K-5 and 12-24mm lens.

Photo365 – Day 218 – tattoo

Well not really, but the power of the sun threw shadows from a pint glass on to a table so I placed my hand in the shot and let the shadow fall across my knuckles in a sort of love/hate way.

Photo365 – Day 217 – poppy heads

I have a feeling this will be the second to last shot from my poppy series. This is of ageing poppy heads shot from a low angle using the hipstamtic iphone app.

Photo365 – Day 216 – Blue melo

Blue Melo is a demo table for the Reactable music app for the ipad. The real Reactable is used by artists such as Bjork on recent live gigs.
This was taken with the iPhone and Hipstamatic app.

Photo365 – Day 215 – before the flood

Sun breaking through the clouds today…an hour or so later we had flash floods and my garage was 2in deep in water. I cleared a garage roof downfall pipe a few weeks ago as a result it’s working and sending water to the drain, which I hadn’t realised until today was also blocked so I need to get a man who can out. In the mean time I have a lot of soggy boxes.

Photo365 – Day 214 – dark night

A shot of the night sky with the iPhone and hipstamatic app. As you can see it’s not black like the sky but a hypnotic red possibly partly down to sodium light pollution but also the fact the camera is quite limited when it comes to shot like this..
The shot signifies personally the blackest day of 2011.

Photo365 – Day 213 – pub for sale

The traditional pub, as we know it, has been in decline for years, but recently that decline has increased with factors such as high rising gas and electric costs, the recession, smoking ban, tougher drink driving laws and lower priced alcohol from supermarkets putting nails in the pub coffin.

This is just one of several pubs for sale in our town, just like most towns and villages these days. And they don’t go for much either. This one’s been on the market for at least a year.

Photo365 – Day 212 – Abstract window

A view through the distorted window glass. I’ve been busy all day decorating so no time for photos. One of the problems with this photo365 daily photo project. So it’s a quick snap on the iPhone.
