Photo365 – Day 75 – All Suffering Soon to End!

I had a hospital appointment this morning. It was at the Doncaster Royal Infirmary. They have problems with parking space and a few years ago opened a large 500 capacity park & ride at the Racecourse. You park for free and then catch a bus to the hospital.

I took advice from the leaflet that said if you feel like some exercise you can walk to the hospital. It’s just 1.2m. The trouble is I hadn’t planned for my new shoes being so uncomfortable. Those that dig in at the heel and quickly create blisters!

On the walk back from the hospital they were really beginning to sting…and then some random woman stopped me and gave me a leaflet with the title – Suffering Soon to End. How did she know? Was there going to be some miraculous shoe exchange and foot massage?

Alas, the suffering continued…the leaflet was from the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Instead of foot recovery I was going to “possess the earth and reside forever upon it”.

I stopped at the road side to ponder my good fortune and took this photo on the iPhone. I included the stars of the show – my torturing shoes.

Photo365 – Day 74 – this is how we live

I took the iphone out on my walk tonight and loaded it with the Hipstamatic app.
I walked round the back of town and found this site in a small portion of land squeezed between two properties. It’s amazing how anyone can dump stuff in such public places and not feel any sense of shame.

As someone who could not drop a sweet wrapper on the floor, this disgusts me.

Photo365 – Day 73 – boiled egg

This morning was one of those days when you reach for the milk and realise the last drop has gone, and then while looking for the butter spot that the empty tub is in the bin. So breakfast is void of a couple of slices of toast with butter or cereal. Fortunately we had some eggs, so I switched into boiling mode and get a pan on the hob. Several minutes later I had one of my childhood favourites boiled egg and soldiers.

I’ve always been able to perfect the running yoke / solid white consistency and was soon dunking bread. But before I went too far I thought it’s time to take my photo365 photo. – boiled egg and soldiers.

Photo365 – Day 72 – Plop

A shot taken today for my Photo365 project using a Nikon D700 with a Sunpak flash and 105mm macro. The flash was placed to the side of the tap and pointed at the red background (a plastic kitchen chopping board). The tap was set to a very slow drip speed and sticky tape placed over the tap nozzle to direct the drip to a certain point.

Photo365 – Day 71 – Alex in Wonderland

This is Alex. I’d just said she looked likeĀ Alice in Wonderland and at this moment I think I caught her dreaming.

It was taken tonight at the wedding reception of Richard our web developer. I used a Fuji F70 EXR point and shoot compact and cross processed in Lightroom to give the yellow/blue effect.

Photo365 – Day 70 – alien road signs

They looked a bit like aliens.
Signs at two mini roundabouts in Worksop, taken tonight for my photo365 project while on my daily walk.

I used the Fujifilm Finepix F70 EXR on night mode.

Photo365 – Day 69 – Dead Mouse

look what the cat…didn’t…drag in
Like most cats our cat tends to like to hunt and bring in the goods, he usually removes the head and leaves the two parts scattered around in the kitchen. But not with this one…either it put up too much of a fight for him to drag through the cat flap or it wasn’t a grand enough catch to show off and present to us.

I think it made a decent photographic subject though. It’s on top of a drive’s drain grate.
Taken using a Pentax K10D and a 100mm macro lens. The vignette and contrast was increased in Lightroom.

Photo365 – Day 68 – Glostonbury

One of my favourite stands at Focus on Imaging was tucked away towards the edge of the hall showcasing the Photography: Editorial and Advertising department of the University of Gloucester.

The whole thing was ingenious and inspirational.

The project was named Glostonbury, themed on the music festival. It was held in a tent with camp seats and cushions, and in the centre was a pyramid of Apple computers each with a portfolio by a student at the University. The leaflets being handed out where in the style of a festival flier. Top marks for originality.

This was a totally new way to showcase portfolios at Focus and a real treat to view.

Photo365 – Day 66 – owl drawing

After the first day of Focus on Imaging I was knackered. It’s the first time I’ve been on my feet for a whole day since my ill health a few years ago, and the first focus we’ve done since 2008. I tend to spend all day standing and don’t go for breaks and before I was like a robot but now I feel it.

In the evening we went for a bite to eat at our hotel’s connected pub The Little Owl. On trip to the toilet I spotted this framed owl drawing and decided that would be my Photo365 for the day.

It’s taken using my iPhone with the Hipstamatic app. I intended loading the shot up to my blog using the WordPress app which I checked was working correctly before I left for the event, but for some reason it stopped recognising the password when I was going to upload in the evening. I now have to find out why it won’t work. If anyone has had the same issue let me know how you resolved it.
