A walk along the river through Beeley Woods with the intention of photographing bluebells. Plenty to choose from but as usual I prefer isolated stems and found an area where I could get a low viewpoint with an interesting out of focus background.

I then walked up through Oughtibridge and on to KirkEdge Road, up Derwent Lane over to Wadsley Common and back home.
A 9 hour stroll with good friend Jane Carter covering 31km. We stopped at Old Horns for lunch. I had Cajun Chicken (quite dry) with side order of Onion Rings (huge plate, very greasy!) Then over to Derwent Edge and dropped back down to Strines by Danes Dyke back to Bradfield and Nags Head for a pint of Stout. On the way I licked a cow’s arse

Went with Nicola Feetham to see Bluetones live at Rock City Nottingham. Arranged to meet my good friend Anna Wharton..it’s been ages! Bluetone were great live…and then we went back stage and I sat and chatted with Nigel from Dodgy, while Nicola got friendly with the Morriss bros.

A tranquil evening listening to the beautiful voice of Anne Garner at hagglers Corner in Sheffield with Gerald Garratty, Rose Otter and Debra Stratford.
This was Anne’s set list

New Model Soldier played possibly their last gig as singer David Kurley says farewell due to upcoming migration to Portugal. The band supported David’s other act, Babyshambles. Good set from both followed by a night of excellent DJ material.
After the gig I bumped into Jennie and Josh. Richard Hawley was in the background behind my ear

Today I achieved a new personal best time of 23:03 on the Hillsborough 5k Parkrun. I came 50th (45th male) out of a field of 219 runners and 1st in my age category with an age-graded score of 66.09%. And I even managed a smile!

Having worn hiking shoes for three parkruns and all my previous couch to 5k training i finally splashed out on a pair or proper running shoes. I got a bargain from TK Maxx – a pair of Brooks Ravena. I had no idea if they were any good but a friend from the photo industry and runner, Angela Nicholson, says she has a pair…so I’m pleased.

End of the Mallorca jaunt. I caught the 211 bus from Port Soller to Palma and then the no1 from Palma to the airport. And a flight back to Birmingham.
A nice easy day after yesterday’s length hike. I followed route three on the free tourist map from Soller tourist info. This was a short one going north from the port. It took me to Torre Picada, and then Punta Curta, and finally on a long windy road through Olive trees to a dead end at Illeta de Con Garda.
Dinner was a bit better tonight (still decidedly average) – vegetable soup, followed by a mince meat stuffed aubergine slice with a tomato sauce topping and chips, and custard to follow, with a soggy biscuit on top and some cinnamon to flavour it.
