Exotic Percussion – Mein Glas Fabrik review

Sheffield Fanzine, Tigers On The Moor (cover date May 1981) reviewed our cassette

The review:

Subtitled “Exotic Percussion”, this is a complete mystery to me except I have a sneaky suspicion that Mark Holmes of the Fatales might just know a bit about it…a c60 album with no information attached, beautifully engineered and compiled, of apparently pointless synth which twists and winds its way through an hour of quite often gloomy but ultimately compulsive listening. There are no sides 1 and 2; one

side has a coloured label and the other is grey and t

hat’s probably the best identification. An ideal tape for late listening, especially the deeper grey side, impossible to review because there’s nothing to say about it! Definitely not just another home made tape! Very good sound quality, and good value for dole at £11.50. As the sleeve note says “Incidental Music”.

We were happy with that conclusion. It was limited to ten copies. We sold 1!

Saw Clock DVA at The Leadmill with De Tian and Prior to Intercourse as support

Nothing could have prepared us for the visual experience on stage this evening. Billed simply as Dancing by Prior to Intercourse there was nothing simple about this “dance” The slow but erratic moving and semi naked body of Robert Baker emerged from beneath a floor of black plastic sheeting. Ripping through while releasing blood dripping inners across the stage, this dance transferred into the audience’s minds as we contemplated the masterpiece of art that left us either shocked, mesmerised or stunned. This was a genius performance, presenting us with something unique that we’d never experienced before and were highly unlikely to ever see again.

Had some African wholegrain rice meal and tried to smoke Bombay Mix through one of Mick Fidler’s Pipes

Strange days. Great gig

Richard Strange at the Blitz club

richard_strange_blitz

Richard Strange (ex Doctors of Madness) live at the George IV Blitz. Having seem Doctors of Madness headline the Sheffield City Hall main stage it was weird to see the lead singer play to a tiny audience and one of the lowest number turnouts I’d seen at the Blitz.
