This is a self portrait taken through a full bottle of lemon fairy liquid. I quite like the soft effect that make me younger and the unusual distortion.

Photo365 – Day 193 – the gardener
Well hardly but I enjoyed getting the shot. The camera Olympus EP2 with fish eye adaptor was placed on the soil pointing up with the timer set for 12 seconds. The exposure was set to plus 3 stops to ensure I came out exposed correctly with the backlight. And then with the shutter pressed I stepped into place. It took a few shots to get the can in the right place and right angle.

Photo365 – Day 191 – shaving
This picture is dedicated to one of the true genius of ePHOTOzine – Warb. He did a version of this back in 2005 called Sunday Shave and I gave it an EC. I decided to recreate it. I don’t think I’ve done as well, but I’m pleased with what I got. It took quite a long time to get the light, water depth, focus and distance right, but I got there in the end. Mine is quite static and staged whereas Warb’s really looks like it’s taken in a bathroom in real time.
It’s taken using the Olympus EP2 and 14-42mm zoom.

Cycle around Ladybower
We drove over to Ladybower Reservoir in Derbyshire and cycled around the three dams with my son William. We parked just before Fairholmes and cycled along the road to Derwent Reservoir then Howden Reservoir and over the old packhorse bridge at Slippery Stones and back round the other side to Ladybower Reservoir.
Great day out! And the last proper day out as William got a job soon after and most of his time currently is spent revising for exams or working. Hopefully we’ll do it again in the not too distant future

Photo365 – Day 88 – Self Portrait
I’m currently testing a new portable studio flash and before I go out I’m getting familiar at home…and that means good old me as the subject. This was taken a few minutes ago in my office. I underexposed to reduce the detail in the background and give the stark effect.

Photo365 – Day 14 – New Desk
After about 10 years of use I decided it was time to buy a new computer desk. The one I’d been using was an old second hand one of high quality, black inset leather, five draws, real wood type thing. At the weekend I spotted a walnut model with a sliding keyboard draw and a tinted glass inlaid top. Very attractive in looks and price.
So I bought it and five nights later finally got around to assembling it and replacing the old one. While the glass is new (it looks all lovely and reflective, but at the same time reminds me of the windscreen of some chav with his ice filled, twin exhausted, alloy wheeled 206) I decided to take some photos.
The first attempts included the opened out keyboard tray and tight crops of keyboard and mouse with reflected screen in the background. Then I spotted some old mirror glasses that had come out of the back of one of the draws from the old desk. I have a pile of stuff to redistribute as my new desk doesn’t have draws so you might see photos of other bits and bobs soon.
I positioned the glasses at a decent angle so the camera was in one corner and took a few shots. I then thought it would be good to include myself in shot so I went to my ePHOTOzine profile and had that as background, and positioned myself so i was large in the glasses reflection.
And here’s the result. All good fun!

New model Chloe Bleackley proves to be a little star
I recently over heard my cardiac nurse saying “she wants to be a model” and couldn’t help push my nose in. I soon found out she was referring to up-and-coming model, Chloe Bleackley, who’d done some catwork work, but never modelled before. So I offered to take some shots to kick start her portfolio.
I spent Friday evening in the Turbine Studio with Chloe. It’s the first studio shoot I’ve done since the heart attack last year.
Chloe turned out to be far better than I expected for a first shoot. In fact, she was much better than some models who’ve been doing it for years. She’s very alert to how models pose and has spent time watching TV etc to learn. So when she started moving I was gob-smacked at the ease of flow.
Happy as they come, but also capable of turning on a sultry pose. I’m sure she’ll go far.
You can see Chloe on Model Mayhem here Chloe Bleackley

Finally wrote some music
I’ve finally got around to creating some music, inspired by litening to some stuff I did many years ago while building a web site dedicated to mein glasfabrik. The first is a very short piece but I find it quite soothing. I’ve added it to my about me page on the site.
And then there’s a longer piece here: TempleWood
Hope you enjoy
