HP Product Hands On – Milan

HP took us to Milan, Italy to show us their new photo solutions, including digital cameras, printers, cd writers etc.
We got to try all the kit in a project based exercise that involved going out with the cameras and then we came back and outputted the work to be judged on the set theme. All using HP gear.

In free time I went over to Milan’s famous Cimitero Monumentale  cemetery, but I didn’t have much time to explore as I arrived half an hour before it was due to close.

Nikon F5 launch – Stockholm

Nikon Europe arranged a product launch in  Stockholm, Sweden for the pro spec F5

We flew from London to Stockholm on BA 107 . I was in Seat 17D.

We stayed in the Grand Hotel which is a luxurious five star hotel right on the waterfront.

Part of the trip included a boat trip to one of the many Islands

We ended up in a nightclub in Stockholm…and that was the night of the legendary fiiish! We even got in Panorama trade magazine (see pic right)

Oh and the 36 frame test that Martyn and I did which gave Simon something to worry about as he considered what the Japanese might have been thinking about the UK press. We were simply proving a point. No matter how fast the camera was it couldn’t keep up with us pulling faces.

PMA 2000 – Las Vegas C2K

c2k_las_vegas

In the day Will Cheung and I decided to spend some time on the roulette tables in Las Vegas. We started at noon and were still there at 6pm…considerably worse off! I lost a lot and Will lost twice as much. A one time experience never to be repeated. We had arranged to go out with Claire Fleerackers from Kodak that evening.

We ended up at C2K night club. We had to wait in a queue while Courtney Cox was ushered in priority style…hadn’t they heard of Peter Bargh!

London to Rochester

air-ticket_philadelphia_18_nov
air-ticket_rochester_16_Nov

A Kodak press trip, which included a visit to the HQ of Kodak in Rochester,  but I can’t remember what the event was.

We watched football in our hotel, and the hotel overlooked Niagara Falls.

We flew on to Philadelphia but it’s all a blur. I’d just found out found my wife was having an affair with a neighbour so my mind was a bit scrambled through to December.

Canon Going Dutch

Canon press launch in Amsterdam.

I appear to have lost the agenda for day one which doesn’t surprise me as I lost my mind on that afternoon thanks to Eileen Martin and Patrick Mullan who I joined on a coffee trip (if you know what I mean) at one of Amsterdam’s typical bars. Some cake and a few spliffs later and I got stuck at 4pm…for a very, very long time. Had to skip the evening entertainment and let the boys from Dallas on TV talk to me.

Also experienced a selection of flavoured Genever’s at a Gin bar before the cake.

Day 2 Breakfast in Wintergarden of Grand Hotel .

Visit to Canon European Headquarters

Product unveiling in Century Plaza

Tour of Canon European Warehouse

Lunch and flight home

Apex Gig

Today I found myself on stage in front of the entire Apex House publishing teams performing a few songs we rehearsed for a few weeks before hand. I was with my designer Chris and Marketing manager Tim, plus his assistant Rani and several other people from other magazines in a band we’d named Things in Black.

pete-chris

I’m not sure the reworded Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da to Publishers we Love you was a cool thing to do but Chris and I  just went along with the whole thing and quite enjoyed the moment.

The line up wasTim Hunt Guitar Vocals
Peter Bargh (me of course) Keyboards
Chris Robinson Guitar
Grianne Jones Vocals
Rani Sanghera Vocals
Mandy Campbell Vocals
Kevin Maxwell Double Bass
Can’t remember who the drummer was 🙁

After the gig, which seemed to go down quite well, we received a cool letter from MD Lloyd Wigglesworth.
