Das Rad and Modulator ESP

I witnessed Das Rad’s first outing (comprising Steve Dinsdale, Martin Archer and Nick Robinson)…a fusion of treated guitar, wind instruments and drums with a smattering of keyboards. They performed a set at Bishops House this evening…Not bad at all.

Support was an excellent electronic feast of loops and modulation by Jez Creek playing as Modulator ESP.

Pic of Modulator ESP thanks to Jan Todd (I didnt take a cameras)

The Tea Street Band

Absolutely bouncing around at the Rocking Chair to The Tea Street Band, a group I’d not seen or heard before but where headline one I had seen before, Ordnance. Great gig, followed by onward drinking session in Devonshire Cat and The Green Room with Nicola Feetham and Debra Stratford.

Bluetones at Rock City

Went with Nicola Feetham to see Bluetones live at Rock City Nottingham. Arranged to meet my good friend Anna Wharton..it’s been ages! Bluetone were great live…and then we went back stage and I sat and chatted with Nigel from Dodgy, while Nicola got friendly with the Morriss bros.

New Model Soldier gig

New Model Soldier played possibly their last gig as singer David Kurley says farewell due to upcoming migration to Portugal. The band supported David’s other act, Babyshambles. Good set from both followed by a night of excellent DJ material.new model soldier

King Crimson Birmingham

King Crimson gig live at the Birmingham Symphony Hall. Went with Gerald, we had tickets in a high place so looking down on the gig.

I’ve been a fan for more years than I want to mention, but this is the first time I’ve seen them live. Goosebumps at the beginning and near the end is unusual for me, but those bumps, and the feeling associated, came.

Interesting set. They played some classics extremely well and amongst them were some of my all time favorites.  See set list below phot. 21st Century Schizoid Man was brilliant, although three full drum kits seemed a little excessive.
Before they came on a pre-recorded message from Mr Fripp went into detail about not using cameras or phones to record or photograph the gig. As a result I only saw one photo being taken, so a well behaved audience.
