The Flash Centre delivered the latest D-Lite kit to the office in the middle of the week, so we organised a shoot with model, Rachel, for today. It took a few hours to rattle through a series of test pics to get used to the flash system…and mighty fine it is too. It’s the D-Lite 4, a 400Ws kit comprising two heads, stands, softboxes and cases to stash it all in. I’ll be writing the review over the weekend and then will post it on ePHOTOzine. Running my own business never seems to give me breaks…but at least I’m doing what I really enjoy 🙂

Photoshop A to Z Book finally done and in print.
Photoshop Course in Cambridge
I was invited to be a judge on Create! – a program, presented by Alasdair Scott and filmed at a small studio in Brixton. It was shown on satellite tv and had two contestants, Helen Niland and Adrian Parr, who competed in a head to head Photoshop challenge, while myself and Steve Caplin watched and commented on their progress and then chose a winner. It was my first appearance in front of a camera and was an enjoyable, but long day to film a 30min piece.
I kept the story board to show how the program was panned and ran.

Receiving a cheque for sale of three photos to an Photo CD library was a good feeling on this day.
My first cover as an aspiring professional photographer. Thanks to David Kilpatrick – sadly the remuneration was just a £20 book voucher, but nothing could put a value on the confidence this and a few pieces in Amateur Photographer ( thanks Liz Potter ) gave to push me to apply for a job on Practical Photography, which changed my life.
I bought a second hand Hasselblad 500CM serial number RP1277623 from Jessop of Leicester Limited that had been sold in through their Manchester branch.
I had two of my photos accepted for the Sheffield Star Golden Frame calendar 1990.
Steve and I went out in Derbyshire with a 5×4 large format camera
Not sure of day or year so estimate it around 1986
Went to see a really interesting talk by Heather Angel titled Focus on the Natural World at the Octagon Theatre in Sheffield. She inspired several of the customers of Jessops to come in and buy Benbo tripods. I already owned one.
