Father Murphy at Chameleon Arts Cafe, Nottingham

Father Murphy at Chameleon Arts Cafe, Nottingham with support from Deadbeat at Dawn, Muscle & Marrow and Carla Bozulich.

Deadbeat at Dawn stimulating beats

Drums and guitar from Portland act Muscle and Marrow gave some great build ups from tranquil to heavy.

Father Murphy had one processed drum, mini keyboard, a brass instrument and a four stringed gadget that played base notes and provided wonderful percussive and string based vibes. The set was played with a finely tuned connection between the duo from Italy, providing an intense soundscape of dark beauty. Particularly liked a technique Chiara applied to the side of a battered cymbal – mesmerising!

Los Angeles alternative rocker Carla Bozulich finished the night and include a song constructed in E-Minor that I’d suggested she use when she asked the audience which note!

Bleaklow

My first trip with the Yorkshire Walking Group who arrange trips on Meet Up. The route was from Woodhead Tunnel, on theĀ  Longdendale Trail past the Woodhead Reservoir then up to Clough Edge, on the Pennine Way to The Wain Stones (Kissing Stones) and Bleaklow Head, coming back down Middle Black Clough to the start.

Yorkshire Lavender

On the way to Whitby I spotted a sign for Yorkshire Lavender (just north of York) so had a quick look around. It’s fee to enter and a wide variety of plants for sale including mints in all flavours.

A teardrop pot

I made my first pinch pot at Blue Elephant Studio in Sheffield – a teardrop pot with orange/red glaze.

Not happy with the tip where the glaze has missed but otherwise not bad for a first attempt.

Tramlines 2016 day 2

Tramlines day 2 -an interesting evening of ethereal, improvised nu-jazz, alt rock and some rock’n’roll. At The Three Cranes (Inclusion Principle and Frostlake), City Hall Ballroom (Basement) and Frog and Parrot (cant remember). Would have gone to grime event at 02 with my sons but my blagged pass didn’t prove worthy, so bouncers said no!
